The TCS-Mobility Academy (MOAC) as operator of carvelo attaches the greatest importance to the processing of your personal data and the safeguarding of your privacy. Below you will find the most important information about this topic.
The General Terms and Conditions (GTC) of carvelo apply in all other respects.

1. Data privacy in general

The personal data that you send us are processed in accordance with the Federal Data Protection Act. The personal data are used for the purposes indicated when they are collected or as prescribed by law.

2. Use of the website/app

During the use of the website/app, we store the following data in our server log file (logs):

  • Name of the visited website,
  • IP address from which the website is called up,
  • Date and time of the visit,
  • Name of the file,
  • Message that the website was called up successfully,
  • Volume of transmitted data,
    Website previously visited (referring URL),
  • Browser type and version,
    User’s operating system.

The Mobility Academy uses these data for statistical reports to optimise our website/app and to protect the security of the data. The log files are erased after one year.
When registering as carvelo user, the following personal data are also stored:

  • First name, last name, gender
  • Address
  • Phone number and e-mail address
  • Date of birth

The data transmitted to us can be forwarded to and used by other organisational units, subsidiaries and sections of TCS, including for purposes of marketing and analysis. You can at any time object to the use of your data for marketing purposes, e.g. by unsubscribing to an electronic newsletter or by calling the TCS Customer Service Centre on 0844 888 111. Your objection will not affect the use of carvelo.

Your data can also be forwarded to third parties for the performance of contracts (third-party partners) or to be processed on our behalf (outsourcing). In this case we make sure that these third parties comply with the legal provisions.

Otherwise your personal data are neither sold nor forwarded to third parties without your consent.Your personal data are stored for as long as we need them for the above purposes or for as long as prescribed by law.

3. Newsletter

You can subscribe to our newsletter here. Your information is used to confirm your subscription and store your name in the list of recipients. You can cancel your subscription at any time by clicking on the link that is included in every newsletter.

4. Analysis tool

We reserve the right to use tools that enable us to analyse the use of our internet sites/our apps and the success of our advertising on third-party websites as well as to display targeted advertising based on the sites you have been visiting (Google Analytics, Google AdWords Conversion Tracking, Google Remarketing, DoubleClick, Facebook Conversion Tracking and Adtelligence Personalization Cloud, hereinafter referred to as “tools”).

These tools make use of cookies that are stored on your computer. The cookies capture information such as the date and time of the visit, the fact that this was a first visit and information about the internet site from which the visitor has come.

These data are captured and stored anonymously and cannot be linked to you. The statistics for our internet site/our app do not contain any information about individual visitors.
The data captured by the cookies are transmitted to and stored on a server of Google in the US or a Swedish server of Atlas (a subsidiary of Facebook). Google and Facebook/Atlas may forward this information to third parties where prescribed by law or when third parties process these data on behalf of Google.

Google and Facebook/Atlas comply with the data privacy provisions of the Privacy Shield framework and are registered as participants in this programme with the US Department of Commerce.
By using this website/this app you consent to the storing and processing of your data for the aforementioned purpose.

You can at any time revoke your consent for the collection and storage of your data with future effect. You can read up on the use of cookies by Google AdWords Conversion Tracking and Google Remarketing at http://www.google.com/ads/preferences. You can deactivate the cookies of Google and Facebook/Atlas by downloading an opt-out cookie from http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp. You can find the opt-out cookie for Adtelligence at http://adtelligence.com/en/opt-out/. If you manually delete all cookies in your browser, you will have to repeat the process.

You can also completely prevent the installation of cookies by changing your browser settings. However, in this case you will be unable to make full use of all the functions of this website.

5. Data security

Please note that the internet is a global, publicly accessible network. You send or transmit personal data from your computer at your own risk.
If you place orders on a website page that allows online payment, the personal data you transmit to us are protected by secure socket layer (=SSL).
In spite of the technical measures implemented by MOAC, data can still be lost, intercepted or manipulated by unauthorised third parties. Your computer is also beyond our control. As the user, you are responsible for taking the required security measures

6. Tracking of bikes

The bikes rented on carvelo may be equipped with a tracking system that makes it possible to identify their location at any time.
The following data are collected:

  • Bike data: frame number, key number, tracker number
  • Location data
  • Driving data: mileage (per day, per week, per month), total kilometres driven, average speed

The data are used exclusively as protection against theft and misuse as well as – in aggregated and anonymised form – for internal analysis purposes.
We are authorised to forward the data to third parties in Switzerland and abroad who will process the data as instructed and for the purposes provided. The data are stored on servers in the EU, or by way of exception in the US. For these exceptions it has been ensured that the agents apply a similar level of data protection than in Switzerland.
As the data are anonymised after 90 days, no link can be established to the user.

7. Right of access and rectification

Mobilitäts Akademie AG, Poststrasse 1, 3072 Ostermundigen is responsible for the processing of the data. You can at any time contact the Data Protection Officer of TCS for all issues related to the processing of your data, in particular to exercise your right of access, rectification and erasure, by sending an e-mail to dataprotection@tcs.ch or by post to : Touring Club Schweiz, Conseiller à la protection des données, chemin de Blandonnet 4, case postale 820, 1214 Vernier.

Christmas break 23.12 - 2.1.2024

From 23 December 2023 to 2 January 2024, the carvelo team and many hosts will be on Christmas break. No Carvelos or Smargos can be booked during this time. From 3 January, the Carvelos and Smargos will be available again and can be booked as usual via the app.
